Workspace and Posture

With many people working from home these days, we wanted to ensure that you are set up for success and not pain!

It may feel good in the moment to work on the couch with your laptop, however, the couch doesn’t offer the needed support for your back and neck.
Make sure you have a work station set up at a desk or kitchen table, preferably at a height where your elbows and knees are bent at a 90-degree angle.

The next step in improving posture during work is understanding what is good posture.
What does it even mean to “stand straight”, or “sit upright”?

Here are some key points to obtain good posture:

– Keep your chin parallel to the floor.
– Your shoulders should be pulled back and down.
– Maintain a neutral spine – no flexing or arching!
– Arms at your sides, with your elbows, bent at 90 degrees.
– Abdominal muscles braced, improving your core muscles as well.
– Feet should be positioned flat on the ground, not crossed.
– While standing, body weight distributed evenly on both feet.
– While sitting, keep your knees at 90 degrees and pointing straight ahead.

Ergonomic Travel Tips

From traveling to and from work every day to driving to your next vacation destination, keep in mind these helpful tips that can prevent your body from stiffening up.

Forward Head Syndrome

Continuously looking down at our phones can not only lead to chronic neck pain and headaches but also a multitude of conditions. We can work with you to strengthen and stabilize your neck to alleviate these symptoms.

In the meantime, be kind to your spine and look up!

Vertebra & Pinched Nerves

A rubber band tied around your fingers will eventually lead to restricted blood flow and obviously become more and more uncomfortable if not removed.

A similar phenomenon occurs when a vertebra becomes misaligned and pinches a nerve. This causes improper signaling to the surrounding muscles and tissues and can lead to dysfunction and pain.

All the treatments listed on the left side can help temporarily, however, the original problem will still remain unless corrected.

Remove the interference and allow the body to heal👌

Work Posture & Injury

We’ve all heard the phrase “sit up straight!” from our friends, family, and maybe even your chiropractor. However, there is more to it than just that.
Most neck and shoulder pain, as well as headaches, come from poor posture that we are in on a daily basis.
Neck pain starts to develop when the head gets used to being forward. This causes the shoulders to follow, so we get the sagging shoulders, which continues to contribute to neck pain by reinforcing the bad posture.

We can correct this with chiropractic adjustments, but there also needs to be a good home regimen of stabilizing exercises and corrections to how you sit.
Check out your desk set up today and let us know if you need any help in how to set up your workspace!
